‘Author Talk Interview Session’ was created to promote fellow authors and their work. The interview questions will spotlight the guest writer, show them love, peace, and respect by allowing them to tell you about their books, other projects and plans to promote. It is also designed to give an author who reads the blog interview posted, insights on how they can grow and share in this huge literary field. This blog interviews will be posted on Facebook, Goodreads, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and NetworkedBlogs.
RAVEN’S MISSION STATEMENT: I firmly believe God’s way of doing business is the best method. When we join hands with each other it not only helps us learn and grow it creates bonds between fellow authors. As team players, we learn to share instead of competing, grasping and grabbing for recognition and financial gain.
I want to welcome Gigi Sedlmayer. I recently met Gigi on LinkedIn. She and I connected and began talking about our books. She has four fascinating books on the market and is currently working on her forth. I hope you enjoy Gigi’s story as much as I did.
Gisela (Gigi) Sedlmayer, Bio
Gisela (Gigi) Sedlmayer was born on 19 May 1944 in Potsdam, a suburb of Berlin in Germany.
Her family escaped to the West just before the infamous wall went up. They moved around in Germany until finally settling in Munich where Gigi studied architectural drafting and met Albert in 1965, marrying in December 1967. She worked as a civil draftsperson in various private consultancies in Munich.
May 1975, Gigi and her husband moved to New Zealand. Because of language challenges, she started a handicraft business. As a specialty, she made colorful parrots of which she sold thousands in a few years.
1989, they became adoptive parents of twin girls.
September 1992 they moved to Australia.
Gigi Sedlmayer’s (copy/pasted) questionnaire answers:
- What genre do you write? When I started to write the Talon books, I thought they were for children, age 9 to 13 or 14 years. But as many reviewers say, the books are for all ages, 9 to 99 years and over.
- What inspired you to write?
Surviving cancer and finding myself still alive after two years of just sitting around, I finally came to my senses again. Since I couldn’t work at a traditional job any longer, couldn’t stand or sit too long, Albert, my husband, taught me how to use a computer. I started to write since there was nothing else for me to do. In the beginning, I wasn’t sure, in which language I should write. But then I decided to write in English since my English became better and we live in an English-speaking country.
I wrote many short stories and entered them into competitions and often got very good reports back, which gave me confidence to go on writing and inspired me to go on. One of the short stories was about Talon and Matica. Judges from the competition loved the story and so I thought, I could develop a series about Talon and Matica. And so the TALON series came to life.
- What have you written?
I am only writing at the Talon series. I have not thought of any other Books yet.
- How many books do you have published?
I have now published 4 books in the Talon series,
First: Talon, come fly with me
Second: Talon, on the wing
Third: Talon, flight for life
Fourth: Talon, connected.
Fifth: TALON, ENCOUNTER. Soon be published.
Who is your publisher?
- My publisher is, Aurora House (Bringing books to life) in New South Wales, Australia
- What are you promoting at the moment?
I promote my Talon books wherever I can. And I always tell people what they can expect in my books. I am writing lines like:
“Size is nothing. The heart is all that counts. And you have the best, softest and most caring heart I ever have encountered. Because of your heart, you survived the hardship the Indians have put you through.”
“Be you, yourself, be happy again. Don’t let life pass by you. Don’t look back, look into the bright future. The future is as bright as the promise of God. Smile – it’s the most beautiful attire.”
“I can do it. These four words are the most power-filled words.”
“Let your smile change the world, don’t let the world change your smile.”
“If you don’t know how to go on in life, whatever it might be, even if you have a disability, find a ‘condor’.”
Not really, for not everyone can find a condor, but whatever they would like to find and love, as Matica loves Talon.
That is just what Matica does in my book, TALON, COME FLY WITH ME. Now she can handle every obstacle…
- Do you enjoy meeting people and promoting your work?
I would, but it’s very hard. If I tell people about my books, they listen, saying: How interesting but that is all. Is there a secret to tell and sell ones books? I haven’t found it yet.
- Would you travel and do speaking engagements to promote your book(s)?
No, I don’t think so. I don’t have the money anyway.
- List some places you would like to visit and meet fans?
I would love to do book signings again and meet fans. My publisher just tries to do just that. In the past I did, but since Angus & Robertson, a big book store in the past here in Australia, now nearly only online, closed down most of their stores, it’s hard to get to do that. But they were very good book signings and I sold a lot of books.
- Tell us your successful methods of promoting?
Well, I try as good as I can. Promote in Facebook, in LinkedIn, In Twitter, Google plus, Pinterest, my website. Telling always what they can expect in my books.
- Are you planning to write more books?
I have now 4 books published, and just getting ready for the fifth book, TALON, ENCOUNTER. My publisher is doing her best to get it out as soon as possible. I can’t wait for the cover.
I have started to write the sixth book in the Talon series.
I plan around 8 to 9 books in the series.
- Where can we purchase your work? http://www.amazon.com/Gigi-Sedlmayer/e/B003U8G4WC/ref=ntt_dp_epwbk_0
- In what formats can we purchase your book(s)? (ex. a. paperback b. E-book c. audio)
They are all available in paperback, kindle, epub and all the other version in the different outlets.
- How can we keep up with your journey?
Keep looking at my Facebook wall, LinkedIn wall, Google plus
If your book gets chosen for a movie, who would you like to play the main characters?
That would be something, and I would love that very much. Several reviewers told me that the books were ideal for movies. So yes, but I haven’t thought about that yet, which star could take the role for Matica.
