‘Author Talk Interview Session’ was created to promote fellow authors and their work. The interview questions will spotlight the guest writer, show them love, peace, and respect by allowing them to tell you about their books, other projects and plans to promote. It is also designed to give an author who reads the blog interview posted, insights on how they can grow and share in this huge literary field. This blog interviews will be posted on Facebook, Goodreads, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Twitter, and NetworkedBlogs.
RAVEN’S MISSION STATEMENT: I firmly believe God’s way of doing business is the best method. When we join hands with each other it not only helps us learn and grow it creates bonds between fellow authors. As team players, we learn to share instead of competing, grasping and grabbing for recognition and financial gain.
I would like to welcome Bob Santos. Bob and met through Christian Indie Authors. After reading his bio, I know for sure he and I have the same heart for the Lord. I hope you enjoy his interview as much as I did.
Bob Santos burns with a passion to help form and equip a generation of world changers for Christ. After graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in 1982 with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry, Bob went on to spend 15+ years working as an analytical chemist in the coal industry. Longing to make a more significant impact in our world, Bob and his faithful wife, Debi, took a major step of faith as Bob walked away from his career in chemistry and moved into campus ministry. While challenging in many regards, the 16+ years spent learning how to reach and grow disciples of Christ through college ministry proved to be both valuable and meaningful. In the spring of 2006, Bob and Debi founded Search for Me Ministries, Inc. (SfMe Ministries) with a vision to reach a broader audience than what they could through campus ministry. At the heart of SfMe Ministries is an emphasis on investing in those who with a desire to invest in the lives of others.
By learning to draw upon the Holy Spirit as his primary source of revelation through the Scriptures, Bob continues to develop teaching materials that empower ordinary people to draw closer to God, and to make an extraordinary impact in our world. The author’s goal is not simply to convey information, or to burden people with rules and requirements for living, but to unlock an understanding of how the Christian life works. Having seen God transform many lives over the past twenty years, Bob takes courage that he is on the right track. In addition to serving as the President of SfMe Ministries, Bob is currently the Southwest Pennsylvania Area Representative for Elim Fellowship. He likes to fish, hunt and garden as time allows.
Bob Santos’ (copy pasted) questionnaire answers:
- What genre do you write?
Non-fiction Christian living with an emphasis on spiritual formation and growth.
- What inspired you to write?
I spent about 15 years leading Bible studies for college students that had a powerful impact on their lives. When combined with a long-standing desire to write, publishing books seemed like a great way to impact a broader audience.
- What have you written?
I do a weekly “blogotional,” but my focus is mainly on books. I have also produced a DVD study on identity—The Search for Me—for use by small groups and a study guide to accompany the DVDs.
- How many books do you have published?
In God We Trust? – an introduction to money management from a Christian perspective. This was my first publishing effort over 10 years ago.
The Search for Me Study Guide – to accompany a DVD study on identity that we produced.
Champions in the Wilderness – Fifty-Two Devotional Readings to Guide and Strengthen Emerging Overcomers. Champions was the first “real” book published by our ministry. Its primary purpose is to help those who want to walk with God but are having difficulty finding “traction” because of adverse circumstances of various sorts.
The Divine Progression of Grace – Blazing a Trail to Fruitful Living. This is the book I am most excited about. It addresses several aspects of grace that are rarely addressed in our contemporary teaching materials.
- Who is your publisher?
I lead a small publishing ministry (Search for Me Ministries, Inc.) that my wife Debi and I founded along with our own publishing arm (SfMe Media).
- What are you promoting at the moment?
The Divine Progression of Grace – Blazing a Trail to Fruitful Living. Our standard definition of grace is generally “God’s unmerited favor,” but from a biblical perspective, this is only one dimension of grace. The book shows how God’s grace also empowers us to serve Him in dynamic ways and to bear spiritual fruit—especially the fruit of love.
- Do you enjoy meeting people and promoting your work?
I enjoy utilizing our materials with a ministry-first emphasis. I do not enjoy self-promotion. This struggle has presented some significant challenges for me.
- Would you travel and do speaking engagements to promote your book(s)?
Yes. I’ve done a fair amount of speaking to church and college audiences in the past.
- List some places you would like to visit and meet fans?
I really enjoy places that are scenic—along the coast and near mountains, but I almost always enjoy meeting people who are sincerely seeking after God.
- Tell us your successful methods of promoting?
I’m still finding my way in the world of promotion, but one of my most enjoyable experiments was to do a “book blessing” instead of a book signing. I’d sign a book and then pray with the purchaser for those who would be reading the book. It was a very refreshing experience.
- Are you planning to write more books?
For sure. My current project is an introduction to the Bible. After that, I want to publish a book about seeking after God’s wisdom.
- Where can we purchase your work?
All of my materials are available through our SfMe Media website: www.sfme.org Many of my books are also available on Amazon.
- In what formats can we purchase your book(s)? (ex. a. paperback b. E-book c. audio)
Mainly paperback and Kindle at this point, although Champions is available through several other outlets.
- How can we keep up with your journey?
People can follow my blog at www.searchforme.info or sign up for our SfMe Media updates.
- Is there a way for fans to ask you questions?
Sure, primarily through Goodreads or by emailing our ministry.
If your book gets chosen for a movie, who would you like to play the main characters?
Since my focus is non-fiction, I can’t imagine any of my books ever morphing into a movie. Jimmy Stewart was our hometown (Indiana, PA) hero, but he’s passed on to the next life and no longer makes movies.
