‘Author Talk Interview Session’ was created to promote fellow authors and their work. The interview questions will spotlight the guest writer, show them love, peace, and respect by allowing them to tell you about their books, other projects and plans to promote. It is also designed to give an author who reads the blog interview posted, insights on how they can grow and share in this huge literary field. This blog interviews will be posted on Facebook, Goodreads, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, and NetworkedBlogs.
RAVEN’S MISSION STATEMENT: I firmly believe God’s way of doing business is the best method. When we join hands with each other it not only helps us learn and grow it creates bonds between fellow authors. As team players, we learn to share instead of competing, grasping and grabbing for recognition and financial gain.
GUEST: Sal Perricone
I want to welcome Sal Perricone. Sal and I met on LinkedIn. He is into crime! With 40 years of experience in law enforcement I think he knows how to write a fascinating story. Enjoy the interview.
I am retired from the United States Department of Justice, where I served as both an FBI agent for 6 years and a Federal prosecutor for 21 years. I now write as I find this is what I was probably made to do. It took nearly 64 years to figure it out, but better late than never.
Since Blue Steel Crucifix was published (12-20-14), I have been working to promote the book and its message. My hobbies are working out and reading. I try to keep myself in good shape, so I can sit long hours pondering my next novel–which is a sequel to BSC.
I live in the suburbs of New Orleans with my wife, Mary and two cats. (Sounds like a Crosby, Stills, and Nash song).
My complete bio can be found on my LinkedIn page if someone really wants to know what I have done for the past 40 years.
Sal Perricone’s (copy/pasted) questionnaire answers:
- What genre do you write?
Crime Fiction, Suspense with a literary slant. I just do want blood and gore. I want a story behind the characters and why they acted the way they did.
- What inspired you to write?
I have nearly 40 years of law enforcement experience, including tenures as a homicide detective, FBI agent, and Federal Prosecutor. I enjoy the genre (see#1) so I said,” I can do this,” and tried. I have read many crime/ thrillers and some just lack the punch of reality. I smelled and tasted the reality, so I gave it a shot.
- What have you written?
I have written one novel thus far: Blue Steel Crucifix. I will attach the total cover art–back and front. It includes my mug.
- How many books do you have published?
This is my first. A sequel is planned.
- Who is your publisher?
I did it the hybrid way. I used Wynnpix Productions in Los Angeles to help edit, format and design the cover.
- What are you promoting at the moment?
I am just promoting one book, with a hint of the sequel.
- Do you enjoy meeting people and promoting your work?
Yes, I have a book signing scheduled in New Orleans in March. I do not know what to expect.
- Would you travel and do speaking engagements to promote your book(s)?
Absolutely!! This book, Blue Steel Crucifix, has a great message. It isn’t just a crime novel. It’s a bildungsroman for several of the characters–one is young, but the others are middle-aged and one is elderly. You are never too old to grow. I would love to travel to promote the message.
- List some places you would like to visit and meet fans?
Anywhere anyone wants to see and chat.
- Tell us your successful methods of promoting?
I went out a secured my book signing myself. I have also placed several copies on consignment around New Orleans. Since part of the story is set in Missoula, Montana, I have asked for help there, too. Also, my main protagonist is a Native American. So I have used Native American sites on FB to get to that audience. They need their heroes, too.
- Are you planning to write more books?
I am working on a sequel to Blue Steel Crucifix.
- Where can we purchase your work?
amazonbooks.com., Kindle, Nook, Smashwords.
- In what formats can we purchase your book(s)? (ex. a. paperback b. E-book c. audio)
Well, this is all new to me. So, any way possible will be deeply appreciated.
- How can we keep up with your journey?
Email or FB. FB page: Sal R. Perricone, S.R. Perricone, Author.
If your book gets chosen for a movie, who would you like to play the main characters?
Well, since most of the book is set in New Orleans and since many movies are shot here, it is possible that if the right set of eyes fall upon this book. But, I am not central casting. I have an aging priest in the book, who is barnacled
