HELPFUL HINT! Being a church secretary, and one of the tithes and offerings counters for nearly thirteen years at the church I attend, I’ve witnessed some unbelievable things happen. This witnessing, has helped me when financial times get tight around the Price household. More more times than I could count on hands and feet…the money given in church offerings would not add up to pay for bills, payroll, or building upkeep. During the month, the bookkeeper would worry and a few times had to ask for extensions, but in every case and before we began shouting crazy words of fear and doubt into the atmosphere, something or someone would come through meeting the needs with added bonuses that allowed the church to spread financial assistance around to others.
The reason for this rant is I JUST HAD A RUDE AWAKENING…. I’ve been counting on a tax refund to pay down some debt. Had my eyes focused on the money already in hand and paying this certain credit card off. Low and behold, that ain’t happening!!! In my quiet time, I pondered over this dilemma and I heard The Holy Spirit say to me plain as day, “You had your eyes off of Me!” I smiled at that and replied back, “Okay, Lord they are back on You now. I’m sorry I idolized the tax refund now I’m asking You to take care of this problem. It was not mine to fret over. I can’t wait to have a story to tell.”
POINT! Now if I hadn’t seen God come through for our church time and time again, I wouldn’t have been able to smile and cast my fears at all. It is hard not to worry about financial needs. But, don’t you think we need to give our Creator a chance to prove His love? At least once!? That one time will change you forever and help you learn to smile when problems arise, instead of going nuts and saying or doing crazy things out of fear.
DON’T WORRY! The Bible warns us over and over that what we say determines what we believe…that is why our enemy puts us in tight situations. The tight situations squeeze us into saying the truth. “Out of the heart the mouth speaks.” Sometimes what comes out of our mouths even surprises us, but after the words are said, just like when the rooster crowed in Peter’s time….it happens…even when we declare we won’t. Thank God, Jesus knows that we are weak and He has already forgiven us. He patiently waits for us to get our eyes back on Him and when we do, He works miracles.
